Herman Cain Is Out

    By Zach Foster

Earlier today, in the face of more and more developments in the Ginger White affair on top of many allegations of sexual harassment by various women, the pressure mounted to a force unbearable and Herman Cain suspended his Presidential campaign.  In a statement, Cain said that these allegations (which he still denies) are hurting his wife, his family, his candidacy, and America “because you’re being denied solutions to our problems.[1]   In the midst of this crisis for the Cain camp, his chief grass roots supporters have already formed a plan and followed up on it: they are supporting Ron Paul, with many Cain supporters joining en masse even though their original champion has yet to endorse a candidate.

The heads of Herman Cain Forums have already made a statement as to why they’re supporting Ron Paul, namely that “Ron Paul was the only candidate that actually had remorse for how the media treated Herman Cain and the alleged affairs” and that they “will always thank him for showing respect in that nature.”[2]  This makes perfect sense, and many of Congressman Paul’s supporters are happy that he was so adamant about focusing only on the erroneous portions of Cain’s platform and NOT his personal life.  One thing that remains ironic is how many Democrats were ready to pounce on Cain as soon as allegations of sexual harassment arose, even though when Bill Clinton was faced with the possibility of impeachment over the Lewinsky scandal, their camp was shouting for America to focus on the issues and not the personal life of their champion.  It is only fair to say that Republicans who pounced on Clinton for his affair are equally hypocritical as the pro-Clinton Democrats who pounced on Cain.  Ron Paul pounced on neither, and it’s refreshing for people both in the Cain and Paul camps to know that a candidate in this day and age could still be a gentleman and focus on hard facts of politics and economics rather than the issues.

Herman Cain Forums is now a pro-Ron Paul website and its floodgates are open to the Paul camp.  Articles on the Daily Paul have also appeared in which Paul supporters lament how the media zeroed in on Cain’s personal life and scandals rather than on the issues, and warmly invite Cain supporters into the Paul camp.  “…So welcome.  We commend you because many Republicans have been reluctant to rethink America's foreign policy (think Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity) and it has been frustrating because they won't allow the discussion to get too deep.”[3]

Some Cain supporters have flocked to Gingrich—the last bastion of [phony] conservatism (Romney being the poster boy for the moderates)—but they are not joined by the majority of their former allies.  Many Cain supporters know that both Gingrich[4] and Romney[5] are well known for their flip flopping on key issues.  Furthermore, many Cain supporters are silently resentful as to how Gingrich has suffered no repercussions in his campaign over his history of adultery, while growing allegations of an extramarital affair pushed their own champion out of the race.  Thus, Herman Cain supporters are now in favor of Ron Paul.

Congressman Paul released an official statement regarding Cain’s campaign suspension: “Herman Cain brought energy and enthusiasm to the Republican nominating process, as well as a unique perspective on many domestic issues important to voters such as tax code reform and a pro-growth agenda favorable to the private sector.  In light of his suspension of campaign activities, I want to wish Herman success in his future endeavors.”
From the point of view of a grass roots activist, it is fantastic to see how Cain and Paul supporters are connecting over social media to combine their strategies, talents, and efforts towards getting Ron Paul elected.  Such a union of forces will also prove to be exceptionally beneficial to Ron Paul in the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire primary election.

Ron Paul Rejects Trump Iowa Debate

Trump’s participation will contribute to circus-like atmosphere and is odd considering his slight to RPI

ANKENY, Iowa – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign released the following statement concerning the selection of Donald Trump as moderator for the December 27th Republican debate to be held in Iowa.  Below please find comments from Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton:

“The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Committee rejects the selection of Donald Trump as moderator for the Republican presidential debate to be held on December 27th in Iowa.

“We have conferred with our Iowa campaign chairman Drew Ivers and vice-chairmen David Fischer and A.J. Spiker who are all RPI State Central Committee Members, and they concur with this decision.

“The selection of a reality television personality to host a presidential debate that voters nationwide will be watching is beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office’s history and dignity.  Mr. Trump’s participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like.  To be sure, Mr. Trump’s participation will contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere.

“Mr. Trump’s selection is also wildly inappropriate because of his record of toying with the serious decision of whether to compete for our nation’s highest office, a decision he appeared to make frivolously.  The short-lived elevation of Mr. Trump’s stature as a candidate put him on the radar of many organizations and we recall that last spring he was invited to keynote the Republican Party of Iowa’s annual Reagan Dinner, yet at the last minute he left RPI holding the bag by canceling.  In turn, RPI canceled its biggest fundraising gala of the year and suffered embarrassment and in addition RPI was required to engage in refunding measures.  Our candidate will not even consider participating in the late-December debate until Mr. Trump publicly apologizes to Iowa party leaders and rectifies in full the situation.

"Therefore our candidate Ron Paul, the champion of the Constitution, has advised he will not attend.”

Support Our Troops: The Hypocrisy of So-Called Patriots

    By Zach Foster

Many conservatives at this stage of the campaign cycle agree that they like the majority of Ron Paul’s platform, yet they disagree with him completely on foreign policy.  Some of them periodically muster the courage to call his foreign policy naïve.  Those who dislike him completely will condescendingly call him a lunatic in the face of anyone they suspect to be a Ron Paul supporter.  These “enlightened” conservatives are so self-righteous and wrapped up in their elevated opinion of their star-spangled selves—and their preferred flip-flopping candidate—that their opinion on maintaining the militarist status quo, infallible as they see it, is so correct that it doesn’t even warrant an intellectual defense, least of all to those no-good dumb-dumb “Paulbots.”  Periodically however, there arise a few who have a sense of honor and decency that are willing to at least defend their ideas with a logical argument.  All of the above, though, are people who claim to “support the troops.”

In light of their claim, it is necessary to analyze who the troops themselves are supporting.  The easiest way to find out is not by straw polls, which can be faulty at times when considering the participating sample of the population, but rather by looking at the way the troops are literally putting their money where their mouth is.  As of September 30, 2011 President Obama has received over $68,000 in monetary campaign donations from active duty troops.  The candidate trailing him is Mitt Romney with a distant $11,000, and for the rest of the candidates the numbers only go down from there.  All of their donations from the troops combined with Obama’s come out to $106,266.  Many of these Republican military donors would be content to vote for any Republican candidate in November 2012 just to get rid of our incumbent President.

And now for the pressing question: How much money has Congressman Paul raised from active duty troops?  $112,739, not counting the various money bombs that would come in October and November.  The numbers clearly show that Ron Paul garnishes more support from America’s fighting sons and daughters—the true patriots who currently risk life and limb for the country—than all of the opposition combined.  No one is in a position to be more fully and painfully aware of the consequences of America’s militant foreign policy than those troops whose job it is to literally fight wars and terrorism, as well as “keep the peace” around the world.  The vast majority of troops—endangered enough by foolish civilian policy makers that they awoke and joined the political process—clearly wish to abide by the noninterventionist (not isolationist) foreign policy of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Yet the so-called “patriots” who disagree with and/or scorn Paul’s noninterventionist ideas are convinced that he is incorrect, naïve, or just plain crazy.  These are the people who most ardently proclaim their support for the troops, yet by writing off Dr. Paul’s idea of bringing the troops home from around the world they also write off the opinions and experience-based beliefs of the very troops they claim to support.  These warhawks all have one thing in common: their idea of “supporting our troops” rests with slapping a yellow bumper sticker on their car and occasionally sending a box of cookies to Kandahar Airfield rather than actually heeding the passionate cries from those who wear the uniform and bleed for the stars and stripes.  This is the ultimate form of hypocrisy for so-called patriots and it is unacceptable.  Every servicemember as well as discharged veterans from the decade-long war on terror ought to call these warhawks on their sickening hypocrisy.

Perhaps the most hardline warhawks will never be able to change their minds; they have already drunk the kool aid of staunch ultraconservatism and are long gone.  However, this is not true for the majority of conservatives who are intelligent critical thinkers.  After all, they love Ron Paul’s non-socialist economic and domestic policies, yet they disagree with his foreign policies.  They also claim that they support the troops, regardless of the overbearing contradiction in their words and logic.  The day these conservatives will truly demonstrate their support for America’s military heroes will be the day they honestly listen to them and vote for the man the troops overwhelmingly champion: Ron Paul.

In Case You Missed It: Michele Bachmann’s (Really) Tough Week

#TweetFail, Iran tidbit, curious VP picks, ‘borrowing without asking,’ and missed SarbOx vote hinder clean execution – especially in Iowa

ANKENY, Iowa – Campaigning for our nation’s highest office is difficult, and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is experiencing a really tough week that isn’t even over yet.

On Tuesday, Bachmann’s Iowa campaign chairman Tweeted an under-140-character mini-gaffe, writing that there were moving trucks outside pizza baron Herman Cain’s Iowa headquarters, assumedly for a quick exodus from the first-in-nation voting state.  The offending Tweet even included a photo of the trucks.  The trouble is, the trucks were delivering thousands of campaign signs, requiring Bachmann’s Iowa campaign manager to apologize.

On Wednesday while in Iowa, Bachmann told supporters that if elected President she would close the U.S. Embassy in Iran as a gesture of her firm stance against the nation.  The only problem is, the U.S. hasn’t had an embassy in Iran since 1980, the year when Blondie’s hit single “Call Me” filled the airwaves, Mt. St. Helens erupted, and Ted Turner launched CNN.

Also Wednesday, Bachmann floated some names of those who might have the high honor of serving as her Vice President, should she be elected.  Names include such stalwarts as her strategic competitor Rick Santorum, and U.S. Senators Jim DeMint (R-SC) and Marco Rubio (R-FL).  The list also includes real estate developer and reality TV host Donald Trump.  Uh-oh.  Is this the same Donald Trump that left the Republican Party of Iowa holding the bag by backing out of the party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner?

On Thursday, Bachmann’s name came up yet again.  This time it was for pilfering a list of homeschool family emails from the well-regarded Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators (NICHE), and using that list to send two communiques to this “niche” market.  The misuse of the email list was traced to a NICHE board member who is a paid Bachmann staffer, necessitating a multi-pronged email response to members from NICHE President Justin LaVan.  The email included the requisite apology to members, an assurance of corrective measures, and an interesting list of FEC compliance actions including giving other campaigns an equal opportunity to use this listserv for the same purpose.

Lastly, again on Thursday, Bachmann made what smaller and newer publicly traded business owners might call a fatal error in missing a key vote on the House Financial Services Committee.  Congressman Paul adjusted his New Hampshire campaign schedule to vote for a SarbOx compliance exemption for businesses of this kind.  Yet, Bachmann missed the committee vote and therefore she delayed a step toward regulatory relief for businesses already burdened with the kind of overregulation that prevents hiring, even during these trying economic times.

“Campaigning for the presidency is challenging and this fact is one of the reasons why my admiration for Ron Paul grows with every stop along the campaign trail.  On behalf of the whole Iowa campaign team, I’d like to wish Rep. Bachmann a future schedule free of hiccups,” said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

Political Polls Are Shepherd Hooks for the Weak-Minded

Instead of really getting down to brass tacks, not only where the candidates stand on issues, but also on the reality of our collective situation -the poll trumps analytical thought. This is a bandwagon advertising technique designed to tap into the herd instinct to pick the winner. Doesn't matter if you wind up choosing between Hitler and Stalin, the most important thing is to pick a winner. Notice that the media, who we know is bought and paid for by the large corporations who got large via the Federal Reserve working in tandem with Congress in the Iron Triangle model of business, talks about polls, polls, polls. They don't talk about solutions, issues, or records, unless it is cherry-picked data that advances the agenda of their employers, who are interlocked in all this mess.

I saw this post at Hot Air a week back and thought it exemplified the cognitive dissodance that "conservatives" seem to be having:

First thing, you have to see this "fan video" done by a Ron Paul supporter. It's a well-done ad.

Now here are the outtakes from Tina Korbe's piece (emphasis mine)
It takes just one run-through to recognize that this video was not made by an official campaign — not because the production values are low (they’re really, really not), but because it’s somehow fun to watch. And it is that even though it points out inconsistencies in the two GOP frontrunners — inconsistencies I’d really rather not think about!
Yes, prole, turn off your brain, it makes assimilating your country just sooo easy. That's how we've gotten as far as we have with our plan to erode national sovereignty into a world wide tyranny run by central banks.

Make no mistake: It’s an attack video that could just as easily have come from the Democratic National Committee as from a supporter of a GOP candidate. It’s not above cheap shots, either. It references Newt Gingrich’s affairs, for example — a relatively untouched subject this election cycle.
All it does is condemn them with their own words, without taking them out of context. It's only reporting what you in the mainstream conservative community won't. It's so much easier to watch the polls like you're watching NASCAR or something. Referencing Newt Gingrich's affair is a obligatory mention because not everyone can say that they were the Speaker of the House of Representatives having an affair whilst leading a very historic impeachment of the President of the United States for having a BJ. That is really unprecedented, thank goodness.

With just one quote from Ron Paul — and a brief screen shot of “Ron Paul 2012″ at the end of the video — this piece somehow does exactly what it’s intended to do … reminds viewers that Paul, of all the GOP candidates, has arguably been the most consistent in his views. If only those views were consistently conservative!
Poor Tina doesn't really know what a conservative is. I imagine she is referring for Paul not towing the line on an obscenely LIBERAL foreign policy. Yes, I said liberal, because our foreign policy is being run by a bunch of liberals and has been for decades. Who decides when we go into a foreign country and what we do there? Not our Congress, not the people, not even the top military brass, although they have some strategy input once the decision is made. No, these decisions are made by Elites in an the Ivory Tower of the RAND Corporation, the CFR, and other such think tanks. Just look at the mission statements of these organizations. Oh, and by the way, these groups are not pro-America, or pro-Constitution. Quite the opposite, they are for the submersion of national sovereignty into a globalist government. That's who's putting our young people out on the front lines of bongo bongo land guarding opium fields and keeping the chessboard open for more plays. TPTB are using the military might of America as their mule, and a whole bunch of servicemen know it too:

Getting back to polls, here's where we were about this time last election cycle:

    (Nov 28, 2007)
    Avg poll position.
    Giuliani- 25%
     Thompson - 14%
    McCain- 14%
     Huckabee - 13%
     Romney - 13%
     Paul - 5%
If you recall, Guiliani was not the nominee and since that time an increasing number of people have become aware of role of central banking in every facet of our government, including foreign policy. Not a majority, mind you, but the American Revolution was fought counting on support from 3% of the population.

It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds. --Sam Adams

    Consider it lit.
